The Martini Shot is what happens when “what should we watch?” gets answered by people with opinions and no interest in pretending every movie is important.
We review new releases, dig through the streaming pile, revisit old favorites, and occasionally use far too many words to explain why a movie with a $200 million budget somehow looks like a screensaver.
Seamus Maguire, Critic
Seamus Maguire is the critic behind The Martini Shot. That is a pen name, not the beginning of an elaborate witness-protection subplot, and for now it is about as much personal biography as the job requires.
The useful parts of the résumé will go here as they exist: publication history, festival credentials, professional memberships, and other things that bear some relationship to reviewing movies. Childhood anecdotes, solemn black-and-white headshots, and the phrase “passion for storytelling” remain under editorial embargo.
Until then, the relevant biography is simple: Seamus watches the movie, writes the review, signs his name to it, and can be reached through the form next door when a correction—or sufficiently well-structured objection—is warranted.
